Emerging new museums and expansion projects of old museums are manifestations of the globalization process and national-level construction demands, also aiming to meet the growing demand for arts and culture.
According to data from The Washington Post, the number of museums across the United States has long surpassed the total number of Starbucks and McDonald's stores.
"Visiting museums" has become a daily activity, and the charm of museums itself is beginning to shine. When considering museums as travel destinations, this summary of museums might serve as a good reference.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

This grand museum located on Saadiyat Island adjacent to Abu Dhabi features a massive dome made of stainless steel and aluminum alloy, weighing as much as two Eiffel Towers.
The striking dome is adorned with densely arranged star-shaped openings, supported by four giant pillars that are concealed by the dome, creating an illusion of floating in mid-air.

Remai Modern

The use of building materials is key to making Remai an exciting destination. For example, its facade is wrapped in glass, with some parts covered in red perforated metal panels, creating a translucent effect.

YSL Museum

Designed by Studio KO, the museum's facade is inspired by YSL's archival materials, with brickwork forming a three-dimensional pattern resembling fabric textures. It extensively uses terracotta, earth-colored terrazzo, and other building materials to seamlessly blend into the local environment.

Museum of Contemporary African Art

The immense scale of the pipes and exposed rough surfaces, coupled with light filtering through the glass and projected from above, gives the museum's interior space a breathtaking quality.
With over 80 galleries in its 6000+ square meters of exhibition space, it showcases contemporary African art against simple white walls.

Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MOCA)

Occupying a complex of 26 buildings, MASS MOCA was initially a textile mill and later an electronics factory.
The influx of art transformed the once-declining industrial town of North Adams into a charming destination for contemporary art and music theater, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world annually.

Basel Art Museum

Standing out for its prominence and high-tech adornments, the Basel Art Museum is a monochromatic masterpiece—creating depth, shadow, and texture through the combination of materials in the same color scheme.

Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art

Designed by Kengo Kuma, this Japanese museum is expected to open to the public in 2020 in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. Resembling a massive rock over 30 meters high, the museum is constructed with over 20,000 pieces of Shandong granite, forming an irregular polyhedron.

Paris Art Museum

A former Paris stock exchange with a neoclassical dome, transformed by a team of architects led by Tadao Ando into a contemporary art museum, exhibiting nearly 5,000 items from the collection of François Pinault, founder of the luxury goods conglomerate Kering.

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Featuring a trapezoidal concrete structure, the Kinder building's exterior is covered in vertical glass tubes, emitting soft light at night, serving to reduce solar gain and create cooling energy. The illuminated facade at night acts as an open invitation to visitors.

São Paulo Art Museum

This is Brazil's most iconic museum, designed by Lina Bo Bardi. The site's complex topography, urban density, and traffic flow posed significant challenges to the building's design.
